The hackamore consists of a steering ring, extended by two rods at the ends of which the reins are attached. A hackamore is used in opposite reins (support reins). It has a very powerful leverage effect: its severity comes from the support on the fragile bones of the chamfer, and under the lower jaw, a more or less "hard" bracelets (leather or metal chain) which tightens this sensitive part of the horse's head. It can now be seen on the show jumping grounds, sometimes with a single bit in order to combine the two actions. In all cases, it requires a light and experienced hand.
